Members of SimSummit:

As participating SimSummit organizations meeting together at I/ITSEC in Orlando in December 2004, you unanimously agreed to pursue the identification by the SimSummit round table of a ‘canonical topical agenda’ relating to the guided evolution of M&S technology, Profession, Industry, and Marketplace worldwide.  The development, publication, and implementation of such a comprehensive agenda was conceived to provide a locus for debate and cooperation among SimSummit organizations and beyond, and the establishment of collaborative programs of activity whereby ongoing investment in M&S may be reconciled and new opportunists for action identified and pursued.

During the recent working meeting at the SISO SIW meeting in Orlando on September 22, the commitment to finalize the topical agenda and to establish the degree to which SimSummit member organizations could subscribe to lead and participate in cultivating the respective communities-of-practice should be completed at the formal SimSummit meeting planned for I/ITSEC ’05.  For your reference, an excel matrix indicating the DRAFT list of topics conveniently mapped to the SimSummit member organizations together with a brief word table with description of each activity is enclosed.

The ACTION agreed upon in December ’04 and reprised in September ‘05 is that each SimSummit member organization shall review the DRAFT candidate activity list and subscribe interest in those activities which are important to the well-being and success of the member organization and which the member organization is willing actively to pursue in collaboration with other SimSummit organizations.

Please, therefore, complete the following ACTION NLT 15 November 2005, and return your input for consolidation and redistribution to the SimSummit forum:

  1. Review the candidate topics and their descriptions.  Indicate suggested additions, deletions, re-formulations.
  2. Subscribe to topics that are important and upon which your organization is willing to ‘lead’, ‘participate’ or ‘observe’ (these various degrees of potential involvement may be inserted in the cells of the excel matrix or in the word table or reported freehand)  Please NOTE that ‘lead’ does not suggest exclusive leadership or the assumption of any fiduciary responsibility for pursuit of the topic – it only means that your organization is interested to contribute substantially to the determination of the prospective ‘axis of advance’ of the topic, provide strategic guidance for participation within the community, and to some degree lead by example in executing one or another of the activities related to advancing the state of art and practice relevant to subject topic.
  3. Suggest what next steps will suffice to facilitate constructive and effective collaboration on topics within the agenda among SimSummit members.
