The strategic necessity for the FA 57 officer is to
redefine the Army's training
environment with simulations that will support training all of the principles
of combat power: firepower, maneuver,
leadership, force protection, and
information. … The simulation officer
will be the point for future Army simulations. Simulation officers should have career progression,
which includes command assignments, and be available to serve
in senior Army leadership positions in the future. The lack of an adequate
number of trained and ready simulation officers is a strategic shortfall
that must be fixed. We must determine
the optimal size for the program, and make assignments available
to these officers that will maintain competitiveness throughout
their careers.
